Authorities in Mainpuri have launched an investigation into the alleged sexual assault of an infant in a village within the district. The three-month-old girl was reportedly attacked by a neighbouring man, who has since been taken into custody by law enforcement.

Police registered a formal case against the 35-year-old accused following a complaint filed by the child's family. The infant has been referred for medical examination as part of the investigative process, officials said.

The case highlights ongoing concerns about the safety of children in rural areas across Uttar Pradesh. Authorities have intensified efforts in recent years to combat such crimes through stricter enforcement and awareness campaigns, though incidents continue to be reported across the state.
