Infineon chief hails India as 'tremendously important' semiconductor market
German chip manufacturer Infineon Technologies has expressed strong confidence in India's semiconductor ecosystem, with CEO Jochen Hanebeck calling the country a market of 'tremendous importance' amid rapid technological advancement and industrial growth.

Jochen Hanebeck, chief executive of Munich-based Infineon Technologies, said Thursday that India's chip sector is entering a promising phase, driven by robust economic expansion and deepening technological capabilities. Speaking at the opening of SEMICON India 2026, Hanebeck stated that the company's commitment to the Indian market has reached unprecedented levels as the nation strengthens its position within global semiconductor supply chains.
"India is a market of tremendous importance for Infineon. We currently engage with more than 1,200 customers throughout the country, spanning from emerging startups to some of India's largest corporations," Hanebeck said during the inaugural session.
The executive highlighted India's rapid development of indigenous chip solutions alongside its increasing contributions to global technological innovation. He noted that the pace of progress across India's semiconductor landscape has been particularly noteworthy, with domestic companies building technological capabilities for both local and international markets.
Infineon's expanded focus on India reflects broader industry trends, with major semiconductor manufacturers increasingly recognizing the country's strategic importance in reshaping global chip production and design networks.
