INLD leader slams BJP's 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyaan' as misuse of state machinery

A senior leader of the Indian National Lok Dal has launched a scathing attack on the BJP's 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyaan', contending that the initiative amounts to systematic misuse of state machinery for partisan purposes.

Sampat Singh characterised the mandatory participation in the programme as more than a mere administrative inconvenience, arguing instead that it exemplifies deeper institutional corruption. He alleged that the initiative operates on both moral and financial misconduct, raising concerns about the deployment of government resources and personnel in activities that blur the line between state administration and political campaigning.

The 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyaan' is the BJP's social service outreach drive, typically implemented through party workers and government officials. Singh's criticism centres on the alleged pressure exerted on government machinery to enforce participation, suggesting a conflation of official duties with party political activities.

The opposition's challenge to the programme reflects ongoing tensions between regional political parties and the ruling BJP over governance practices, particularly regarding the distinction between legitimate state welfare initiatives and partisan political mobilisation using government infrastructure.
