Inmate's Wife Alleges Extortion and Assault at Ajmer High Security Prison

The wife of an inmate held at Ajmer High Security Jail has filed a formal complaint with the district police superintendent, alleging that jail officials demanded 200,000 rupees in bribes and subsequently arranged a knife attack on her husband when the payment was not forthcoming.
According to the complaint filed by Bhavneshwari, also known as Rinku Kanwar, her husband Dhansingh, also called Dhanpratap Singh, was the target of a violent assault within the prison premises. She claims the attack came after she refused to meet the extortion demand made by jail authorities.
In her petition, Kanwar has called for a thorough and impartial investigation into the allegations, action against those responsible, and enhanced security measures for her husband. The complaint has prompted authorities to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident and the conduct of jail personnel involved.
The allegations, if substantiated, would represent a serious breach of prison administration protocols and raise questions about inmate safety and institutional oversight at one of Rajasthan's high-security correctional facilities. Officials have not yet released a formal statement regarding the investigation.
