Inquirer chair calls for media collaboration at Singapore summit

SINGAPORE — Sandy Prieto-Romualdez, chair of the Inquirer Group of Companies and Asia-Pacific regional head of the World Association of News Publishers, formally inaugurated the 6th Asian Media Leaders Summit on Tuesday with a plea for industry-wide collaboration and innovation.

Addressing more than 200 media executives and leaders from across the region, Prieto-Romualdez emphasized the urgent need for the news media sector to unite in confronting a rapidly evolving landscape marked by technological disruption, economic pressures, and shifting audience behaviors.

The summit brought together prominent figures from major news organizations across South and Southeast Asia to discuss strategic responses to the challenges reshaping traditional and digital media operations. The gathering provided a platform for industry stakeholders to exchange insights on business sustainability, editorial excellence, and audience engagement strategies.

The Asian Media Leaders Summit, held annually in Singapore, has become a key forum for regional media executives to address shared concerns and explore collaborative opportunities. This year's edition underscored growing recognition within the industry that collective action and innovation will be essential for news organizations to maintain credibility and viability in an increasingly competitive global information environment.
