A five-member internal investigation committee has commenced work to establish the circumstances surrounding the explosion that occurred in the kitchen area of the Polonnaruwa National Kidney Hospital in the early hours of Thursday. Hospital director officials confirmed to media that the committee has already begun its fact-finding mission.
Health Minister Dr Nalinda Jayatissa has indicated that a separate ministry-level investigation will also be undertaken into the incident. The dual-track approach suggests authorities are treating the matter with significant priority and intend to leave no stone unturned in determining what caused the blast.
