Inter closes gap on Serie A leaders with Venezia victory

Inter's clinical performance in Venice maintained the Nerazzurri's title challenge as they matched Lazio's points tally at the summit of Italy's top division. The away side controlled proceedings throughout the match, securing the crucial three points to keep pace with the league leaders heading into the final stages of October.

While Inter capitalised on their opportunity, AC Milan's evening at the San Siro proved significantly more troublesome. Despite establishing a halftime lead, the Rossoneri capitulated in the second half as Bologna stormed back to claim an emphatic 4-2 victory. The defeat represents a significant setback in Milan's campaign and leaves their title aspirations under growing pressure.

The contrasting fortunes of Italy's two Milan clubs underscored the tightness of this season's Serie A title race, with inconsistency proving costly at both ends of the pitch. Inter's ability to grind out results on the road strengthens their credentials as genuine contenders, while Milan will face difficult questions following their collapse against Bologna.
