Internal strife, legal challenge imperil Arunachal Pradesh Ranji campaign
Arunachal Pradesh faces the prospect of forfeiting its Ranji Trophy Plate Group opener against Nagaland following an administrative crisis triggered by disputed elections and ongoing High Court proceedings.

Arunachal Pradesh cricket is in turmoil as factional disputes within the state association threaten to derail the team's domestic season. The crisis came to a head when the association failed to field its Under-19 squad for a Vinoo Mankad Trophy one-day match against Sikkim in Bhubaneswar, a failure attributed to the absence of any functioning authority capable of making selection decisions.
The regional team risks forfeiting its Plate Group Ranji Trophy opener against Nagaland, scheduled to commence on October 11 in Ahmedabad. The situation stems from a power struggle within the Arunachal Pradesh Cricket Association following September elections that saw Nabam Vivek elected as president. However, multiple district associations have challenged the election results before the Itanagar bench of the Guwahati High Court, citing procedural irregularities. The court has reserved judgment, leaving the association's leadership status unresolved.
The administrative limbo has created severe uncertainty for contracted players. Professional cricketers signed to represent the state this season remain uninformed about whether they should travel to Ahmedabad for the upcoming match, according to reports. The BCCI has been unable to intervene meaningfully, constrained by the pending judicial proceedings.
The deadlock represents a critical challenge for Arunachal Pradesh's participation in domestic cricket at a time when clarity and decisive administration are essential. Resolution of the High Court petition is now crucial to prevent further disruption to the state team's competitive calendar.
