International delegates explore Vietnam's rich ethnic heritage at Hanoi festival

HANOI — International delegates attending the second Cultures of the World Festival toured the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in Doai Phuong commune on October 2, gaining firsthand exposure to the country's distinct ethnic populations and their cultural practices.

The festival event provided visiting dignitaries with an opportunity to observe traditional crafts, architectural styles, and daily practices that characterize Vietnam's numerous ethnic minority groups. The venue, dedicated to preserving and showcasing indigenous heritage, offered comprehensive exhibits of material culture and living demonstrations reflecting the communities' longstanding traditions.

Vietnam is home to 54 officially recognized ethnic groups, with the Kinh majority comprising approximately 86 percent of the population. The remaining groups, scattered across mountainous regions and rural areas, maintain distinct languages, customs, and social structures that have developed over centuries.

The Cultures of the World Festival has emerged as a significant platform for cross-cultural exchange and international understanding. By bringing global representatives to Vietnam's cultural institutions, the event strengthens diplomatic ties while promoting awareness of Asia's diverse heritage among the international community.
