Law enforcement agencies have secured an Interpol Red Corner Notice against Shariq Sata in connection with the 2024 Sambhal violence, marking an escalation in the international pursuit of the suspect. Investigation into the incident identified Sata as the primary architect of the coordinated unrest that gripped the Uttar Pradesh locality.
According to authorities, Sata absconded from India following the violence and made his way to Dubai, traveling on a forged passport. The use of fraudulent documents has added charges of document forgery to the case against him. The Red Corner Notice, an international alert system operated by Interpol, seeks the location and arrest of individuals wanted by member countries.
The Sambhal violence, which drew significant attention in 2024, prompted a comprehensive investigation by local law enforcement agencies. As inquiries progressed, Sata emerged as a central figure in orchestrating the incident. His flight abroad has prompted authorities to seek international cooperation in apprehending him.
The issuance of the Red Corner Notice represents a formal request to Interpol's 196 member countries to locate and detain the suspect pending extradition proceedings. Indian authorities continue to coordinate with international law enforcement agencies to secure Sata's return.
