Investigator unaware of reasons behind director's amended MACC statement
An investigating officer has stated he does not know why a company director amended his statement to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission. The officer clarified that a cheating case involving a businessman was separate from his investigation into the former Penang chief minister.

The investigating officer handling the case, Zulhilmi Ramli, told the court that he was unaware of the reasons behind the amended statement submitted to the MACC by a company director. Ramli's testimony came during proceedings related to investigations into former Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng. The officer stressed that the cheating case involving businessman G Gnanaraja operated independently from his inquiry into the former chief minister. The distinction between the two cases has become a point of focus as legal proceedings continue. Ramli's statement suggests that separate investigative threads may have been confused or conflated during the course of the inquiries.
