Iran conducted a missile assault on two US military bases located in Jordan, marking an escalation in regional tensions. The attack came in response to what Iranian officials characterized as an assault on Iranian territory, specifically near the Larak region.
US Central Command confirmed that the blockade operations against Iran remain active and in effect. According to the command's latest operational update, the blockade has resulted in significant maritime enforcement actions, with 83 commercial vessels redirected from their intended routes as of Sunday.
In addition to the vessel redirections, US forces have taken more aggressive enforcement measures, disabling three vessels and boarding two others to ensure compliance with the sanctions regime. These actions underscore the intensifying military posture in the region amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran.
The incident reflects the broader deterioration of relations between Washington and Tehran, with both sides engaging in increasingly direct military actions. The US military presence in the region, particularly at bases in neighboring Jordan, has remained a point of contention for Iranian officials and regional analysts.
