The newly appointed leader of Iran's Supreme National Security Council issued stern warnings to countries in the region on Saturday, cautioning them against aligning with Washington's latest sanctions campaign against Tehran. The official accused the United States of destabilising global nuclear security and vowed a strong response to any hostile actions.
Regional diplomatic efforts are underway to ease tensions, with Egypt attempting to broker fresh negotiations between Iran and the United States. Meanwhile, Iraq and Iran have confirmed that Tehran has assisted some Iraqi oil tankers in transiting the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, a crucial chokepoint for global energy supplies. France and Saudi Arabia are reportedly preparing discussions on alternative shipping routes that would bypass the waterway entirely.
Security developments in the wider Middle East continue to complicate the regional landscape, with Israel conducting military strikes in Syria and Gaza in recent operations. These actions underscore the volatile security environment as diplomatic channels remain strained and economic pressure tactics intensify across the region.
