Iran's Supreme Leader Calls for Muslim Unity Against US, Israel

Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei has issued a appeal to leaders of Muslim-majority nations to recognise their "real enemy" and work together to counter perceived threats from the United States and Israel. In a letter addressed to religious leaders gathering for a conference in Tehran, Khamenei characterised both nations as adversaries of the Islamic world and called for coordinated action against them.

The statement marks a significant diplomatic push at a time of heightened regional instability. The Iranian leader has not made public appearances for six months, following a military confrontation that resulted in the deaths of Khamenei's father and other high-ranking Iranian officials.

Iran's efforts to mobilise Muslim-majority states around a unified stance have exposed existing divisions within the Islamic world. Tehran's recent military actions targeting facilities in neighbouring Gulf Arab states, combined with restrictions on maritime traffic through the strategically critical Strait of Hormuz, have complicated efforts to build consensus among regional powers.

The Iranian government has consistently opposed the US military presence across the Middle East and Gulf region, viewing it as a destabilising force. Khamenei's latest remarks reflect Tehran's broader strategy of framing regional conflicts as part of a larger ideological struggle between Islamic nations and Western powers.
