Iran security chief briefs Supreme Leader after regional talks

DUBAI — Iran's Security Council chief Mohsen Rezaei held talks with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei on Tuesday, the Iranian state media reported, a day after engaging in discussions with senior representatives from Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan.

The meeting between Rezaei and Khamenei came as Iran continues diplomatic engagement with key regional powers. Khamenei has made limited public appearances since succeeding his late father in March, making the Tuesday meeting a notable development in Iran's political calendar.

The timing of Rezaei's briefing to the Supreme Leader suggests the security chief was updating Tehran's top leadership on the outcomes of bilateral and multilateral talks conducted with the three neighboring countries. Such high-level consultations typically precede policy decisions on regional security matters.

The diplomatic exchanges between Iran and the three countries represent continued efforts at dialogue among major regional players, reflecting broader patterns of engagement in South and West Asian geopolitics despite ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
