Iran signals willingness to mediate Saudi-Houthi dispute through dialogue

Iran has expressed support for a political settlement to end hostilities between Saudi Arabia and Yemen's Houthi movement, with Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi underscoring Tehran's commitment to dialogue-based solutions.

Araghchi renewed Iran's standing offer to act as an intermediary between the two parties, signalling that Tehran views negotiation as the most viable path forward. The diplomatic overture comes amid ongoing tensions in the region, where the conflict has inflicted substantial humanitarian costs on Yemen's civilian population.

The Iranian initiative reflects broader efforts by regional powers to de-escalate tensions through mediation. Previous attempts at brokering peace have involved multiple international actors, though progress remains limited.

Saudi Arabia has led a military coalition supporting the internationally recognized Yemeni government against the Houthi movement since 2015. The conflict has created one of the world's most severe humanitarian crises, displacing millions and leaving the country's infrastructure in ruins.

Iran's renewed diplomatic engagement suggests the possibility of expanded multilateral discussions, though substantive progress would require significant movement from all parties involved in the protracted dispute.
