Iran Unveils Two-Year Strategy to Withstand Fresh US Sanctions

Iran's Economy Minister Ali Madanizadeh predicted on Monday that the United States would face "another defeat" in its efforts to cripple the Islamic Republic through economic pressure. Speaking publicly about Tehran's response strategy, Madanizadeh said Iran had formulated a comprehensive "two-year plan" specifically designed to neutralise the impact of the latest round of American sanctions.

The minister's confident statement reflects Iran's determination to maintain economic stability despite intensifying international pressure. Iranian officials have repeatedly emphasised their capacity to adapt to sanctions regimes through diversifying trade partnerships and strengthening domestic production capabilities.

The remarks come amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington over nuclear issues, regional influence, and sanctions enforcement. The US has maintained a stringent sanctions regime against Iran targeting its oil exports, banking sector, and access to international markets.

Iran has previously developed strategies to circumvent sanctions by expanding trade with countries willing to defy American pressure, including China and Russia. The government has also invested in developing alternative financial mechanisms and boosting non-oil sectors of its economy to reduce vulnerability to external economic coercion.

Madanizadeh's two-year timeframe suggests Iranian authorities believe they can successfully implement their counter-sanctions strategy within that period, though economic analysts remain sceptical about Iran's ability to fully offset the impact of comprehensive American sanctions without significant international support.
