The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has implemented a direct digital link enabling VAT-registered filers to transmit electronic invoice data seamlessly into RAMIS, the government's centralized tax administration database. This integration marks a significant step toward digitizing Sri Lanka's tax compliance framework and reducing manual data entry requirements for businesses.

The e-invoice connection allows VAT filers to upload and synchronize invoice information automatically, eliminating the need for separate submissions across multiple platforms. The system is designed to improve data accuracy, reduce administrative burden on taxpayers, and enhance the IRD's capacity to monitor compliance in real time.

Officals indicate the direct link strengthens the integrity of Sri Lanka's Value Added Tax system by creating an automated audit trail and cross-verification mechanism. Businesses registered for VAT purposes can now manage their filing obligations through a unified digital interface, aligning Sri Lanka's tax administration with modern compliance standards adopted across the region.

The IRD has advised all affected VAT filers to familiarize themselves with the updated procedures and technical requirements for utilizing the new e-invoice portal. Further technical guidance and support resources are expected to be made available through the department's official channels in coming weeks.
