KUALA LUMPUR — Over 80 supporters of former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob made the three-hour journey from Bera in Pahang to the Kuala Lumpur court complex on Tuesday, demonstrating their backing for the veteran politician during the proceedings.
The group's presence at the courthouse reflected the continued grassroots support Ismail Sabri maintains within his constituency and beyond, despite the legal challenges he faces. Supporters gathered in visible numbers, signaling their solidarity with the former premier.
Ismail Sabri served as Prime Minister from August 2021 to September 2022 under the Perikatan Nasional coalition before being succeeded by Anwar Ibrahim. The former Bera Member of Parliament has maintained a significant political profile in the intervening period.
The turnout underscores the enduring backing the seasoned politician enjoys among sections of his party base, particularly in his home state of Pahang, where he has represented constituents for many years.
