Israel dismisses British pressure to halt controversial West Bank settlement

Israel has rebuffed diplomatic pressure from Britain to halt the E1 housing development, a contentious settlement project in the West Bank. The initiative would expand Jewish settlements in an area that critics argue would effectively sever East Jerusalem, which Israel occupied and annexed in 1967, from the broader West Bank territory.
