Israel's election results remain deadlocked following voting day, with exit polls from Kan 11 and Channel 13 news networks indicating neither the government nor opposition bloc can claim a decisive mandate. Both camps are projected to secure 51 seats each in the 120-member Knesset, leaving the political landscape fractured and government formation highly uncertain.
The deadlock underscores the fragmentation within Israeli politics, with no single bloc commanding the clear majority typically required to form a stable government. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faces mounting pressure despite his bloc's performance, as the narrow split suggests difficult coalition negotiations lie ahead.
Arab parties have strengthened their parliamentary position in the election, winning approximately 18 seats according to the exit polls. This representation could prove decisive in coalition arithmetic, potentially offering either bloc a pathway to the 61-seat threshold needed for a governing majority, though their participation in any government remains a politically contentious question.
Final official results are expected to confirm the exit poll projections in coming hours, after which Israeli political leaders will begin formal negotiations on government formation. The outcome highlights the challenges facing Netanyahu as he seeks to maintain political power amid an increasingly divided electorate.
