Israeli demolitions displace over 100 Palestinians in West Bank village

Israeli military personnel carried out the demolitions in Biddu, a Palestinian community in the occupied West Bank, resulting in the displacement of more than 100 people across five households. The structures were destroyed in what Israeli authorities characterized as enforcement of building regulations in Area C, the portion of the West Bank under full Israeli administrative and security control.

Palestinian residents of Biddu have faced periodic demolition orders, with Israeli authorities citing lack of construction permits as justification for the operations. Palestinian officials and rights groups contend that obtaining permits from Israeli authorities is an arduous process, leaving Palestinians with limited legal avenues for housing construction in many areas of the West Bank.

The displacement adds to a growing list of Palestinian communities affected by home demolitions in recent months. International humanitarian organizations have documented the impact on vulnerable populations, including children and elderly residents forced to relocate with minimal warning.

Israeli officials maintain that demolition operations target illegally constructed structures that violate zoning and building codes. Palestinian representatives argue the policy disproportionately affects Arab residents while Jewish settlements in the territory continue to expand with Israeli government support.
