Israeli rights group documents systematic settler violence against Palestinians

The Israeli rights group B'Tselem said Thursday that attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinian communities represent a systematic effort to eliminate Palestinian presence in disputed areas of the West Bank.

In its assessment, B'Tselem contended that settler violence operates in conjunction with Israeli state policies, creating conditions that make Palestinian life increasingly untenable in certain regions. The group cited patterns of property destruction, agricultural damage, and physical assaults against Palestinian civilians across multiple locations.

B'Tselem, which has documented human rights violations by both Israeli forces and Palestinian actors for three decades, characterized the violence as part of a broader territorial strategy rather than isolated incidents. The organization called for intervention from Israeli authorities to halt what it described as a deliberate campaign to alter the demographic and territorial composition of the West Bank.

The findings add to growing international concern over escalating tensions in Palestinian territories. Human rights organizations and United Nations bodies have previously raised alarms about settler violence and its impact on Palestinian communities, though Israeli officials have disputed characterizations of a coordinated campaign, attributing incidents to individual actors.
