ISRO advances TRISHNA satellite project with France partnership

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has reported significant progress on the TRISHNA satellite mission, which is being developed in partnership with France's space agency. An ISRO official confirmed that the project has reached an advanced stage of realisation, indicating that key development milestones are being achieved.

TRISHNA, an earth observation satellite designed to monitor thermal infrared radiation and land surface temperatures, will extend India and France's longstanding cooperation in space exploration. The mission builds on the success of two previous joint ventures: Megha-Tropiques, which studies monsoon systems and rainfall patterns, and SARAL, an altimetry satellite used for oceanographic research.

The satellite is expected to provide critical data for climate monitoring, water resource management, and agricultural applications across South Asia. Its thermal imaging capabilities will help scientists better understand land-atmosphere interactions and support evidence-based policy decisions in resource management and disaster preparedness.

The Indo-French space partnership has established India as a key player in advanced earth observation missions. TRISHNA's development reflects the deepening technical cooperation between ISRO and the French space agency, strengthening India's capabilities in satellite technology and environmental monitoring.
