The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has completed critical preparatory activities for the launch of NVS-03, a navigation satellite scheduled to lift off aboard the GSLV-F18 vehicle. The mission represents a significant milestone in the development and deployment of India's NavIC constellation, the country's independent satellite navigation system.
The NVS-03 satellite, part of the NavIC (Navigation with Indian Constellation) programme, will be positioned in geostationary orbit to provide navigation and timing services across the Indian region and surrounding areas. ISRO teams have undertaken rigorous testing and validation procedures to ensure mission readiness ahead of the scheduled launch window.
The GSLV-F18 vehicle is ISRO's heavy-lift launch system, specifically configured to deploy satellites into geostationary transfer orbits. The successful completion of final preparations indicates that all subsystems and support infrastructure have passed stringent quality and safety checks required for crewed and uncrewed missions.
Once operational, NVS-03 will enhance the coverage and reliability of NavIC services, reducing dependency on foreign navigation systems and strengthening India's space capabilities. The satellite will complement existing constellation members already in orbit and improve positioning accuracy for civilian and strategic applications across the region.
