ISRO's NVS-03 satellite reaches geosynchronous orbit successfully

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) confirmed on Tuesday that the NVS-03 satellite has successfully attained geosynchronous orbit following four critical orbital manoeuvres. The satellite, part of India's NavIC constellation, reached the target orbit at an inclination of 29.980 degrees.

According to ISRO, the Liquid Apogee Motor (LAM) engine on the satellite completed a cumulative burn time of 6,164 seconds across the four manoeuvres to position the spacecraft in its operational orbit. All systems aboard the satellite are functioning as expected.

The NVS-03 satellite forms part of the Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC) system, India's homegrown satellite navigation framework designed to provide accurate positioning and timing services across the Indian subcontinent and surrounding regions. The constellation is intended to operate independently of international systems and serve civilian, commercial, and strategic applications.

With NVS-03 now in position, India continues to strengthen its space infrastructure and reduce dependence on foreign navigation systems. The satellite will undergo further commissioning and testing before being declared fully operational.
