ISRO successfully launches NVS-03 navigation satellite from Sriharikota

ISRO's GSLV-F18 rocket carried the NVS-03 satellite to orbit at 11:31 p.m. from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. The successful deployment marks another milestone in the development of India's Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC) system, the country's own satellite navigation network.

The NVS-03 satellite forms part of India's broader effort to establish an independent positioning, navigation and timing infrastructure. By expanding its constellation of navigation satellites, India aims to reduce reliance on external systems such as the American Global Positioning System (GPS) and other foreign navigation networks.

NavIC is designed to provide accurate positioning services across India and the surrounding region up to an area extending 1,500 kilometres beyond the country's borders. The system has applications spanning transportation, disaster management, agriculture, utilities and location-based services.

With the addition of NVS-03, ISRO continues to strengthen the operational capability and redundancy of the NavIC constellation. The satellite will be integrated into the existing network to enhance coverage and service reliability for users across the Indian subcontinent.
