ISRO's GSLV-F18 launch vehicle is scheduled for liftoff from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Tamil Nadu, carrying the NVS-03 navigation satellite into space. The mission forms part of India's strategic effort to maintain and expand the NavIC (Navigation with Indian Constellation) system, which provides positioning and timing services across the Indian subcontinent and surrounding regions.
The NVS-03 satellite represents the third dedicated navigation satellite in ISRO's constellation, complementing the existing network of navigation spacecraft. By deploying satellites into geosynchronous transfer orbit, ISRO ensures comprehensive coverage and improved service reliability for users across India and neighbouring territories.
The GSLV-F18 mission underscores India's growing capabilities in space transportation and the importance placed on developing independent navigation infrastructure. The successful deployment of navigation satellites reduces reliance on foreign systems and strengthens India's technological sovereignty in critical space-based services.
Members of the public and space enthusiasts will have the opportunity to observe the launch proceedings, as ISRO typically provides live coverage of its major missions through its official channels and media partners.
