IT Ministry green-lights 12 new projects under electronics component scheme

The Ministry of Information Technology has cleared 12 fresh projects for support under the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), expanding New Delhi's push to strengthen India's electronics components industry.

The ECMS framework enables the government to extend turnover-linked incentives to eligible manufacturers operating in the electronics components space. The scheme is designed to encourage domestic production, reduce import dependency, and foster a competitive manufacturing ecosystem.

The latest approvals represent a continued commitment to building indigenous capabilities in electronics manufacturing, a sector identified as crucial for India's technological self-reliance and economic growth. The incentive structure targets component makers across categories including semiconductors, passive components, and other electronic parts.

These project approvals are expected to unlock investments and job creation within the component manufacturing value chain. The move aligns with broader government initiatives to position India as a significant hub for electronics manufacturing in the region.
