After spending 14 years in the IT industry, Mohapatra relocated to his native Nabarangpur district to establish a mushroom farming venture that has since become a significant agricultural enterprise.

The operation has scaled rapidly since its inception, with the facility now producing up to 18 tonnes of mushrooms monthly. The farm supplies produce to regional markets while maintaining quality standards consistent with commercial agricultural operations. Monthly revenues from the venture exceed 10 lakh rupees, demonstrating the economic viability of the farming model.

Beyond financial returns, the mushroom farm has emerged as a meaningful employment generator for the surrounding community. The operation currently provides direct employment to 24 local residents, contributing to economic development in the rural district. The venture represents a broader trend of skilled professionals exploring agricultural entrepreneurship as a sustainable livelihood alternative.
