ITCZ to drench western Mindanao through midweek

MANILA — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has alerted residents of western Mindanao to prepare for an extended period of rain as the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) moves into the region.

Overcast skies and rainfall are expected to dominate the western areas of Mindanao beginning Monday, with the weather pattern anticipated to remain active through Wednesday. The ITCZ, a band of low pressure that typically forms along the equator where trade winds converge, regularly brings significant moisture and precipitation to parts of the Philippines during certain periods.

Residents and local government units in affected areas are advised to monitor weather updates and take necessary precautions as the three-day rainy period unfolds. Pagasa continues to track atmospheric conditions and will issue updated forecasts as needed.
