J&K Bank Q2 profit climbs 10.6% to ₹546 crore on earnings growth

Jammu and Kashmir Bank's board approved quarterly results on Thursday showing net profit of ₹546.36 crore for the three months ended September 30, up 10.6 per cent from ₹494.11 crore in the same period last year. The performance was underpinned by operational gains and strengthening of the bank's credit portfolio.

Net interest income grew 5 per cent to ₹1,502 crore during the quarter, while other income more than doubled to ₹314.90 crore compared with ₹153.76 crore year-on-year. The substantial jump in non-interest income highlighted diversification of the bank's revenue streams beyond traditional lending activities.

Sequentially, the bank's profit surged 28.8 per cent from ₹424.18 crore recorded in the first quarter of the fiscal year, indicating accelerating momentum. For the first half of the current fiscal year, operating profit rose over 15 per cent to ₹1,492 crore, while operating expenditure growth remained measured at 1.5 per cent, demonstrating improved cost discipline.

The lender's cost-to-income ratio stood at 56.57 per cent, reflecting operational efficiency gains. Asset quality improvements during the quarter further supported the earnings trajectory, positioning the bank favorably amid a challenging lending environment.
