Jammu & Kashmir Bank's financial performance improved in the second quarter, with net profit rising to Rs 546 crore compared to the year-ago period. The growth reflects stronger operational metrics and improved asset quality across the lender's portfolio.

Net interest income, the primary source of banking revenue, expanded 5% year-on-year, providing steady growth in the core lending business. Other income more than doubled during the quarter, indicating improved performance from non-traditional revenue streams including treasury operations and fee-based services.

The bank's asset quality metrics strengthened during the period, with provisions declining from the corresponding quarter last year. This improvement suggests better loan recovery rates and reduced stress in the credit portfolio, key indicators of operational health for financial institutions.

The results reflect J&K Bank's efforts to stabilize operations and enhance profitability following previous challenges. The combination of controlled provisions and higher other income demonstrates the lender's ability to diversify revenue sources while managing credit risk more effectively.
