J&K built lasting peace through development, not negotiations: L-G

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha asserted on the Jammu and Kashmir Foundation Day that the union territory has transitioned from conflict toward stability through institutional strengthening and grassroots engagement. Sinha emphasized that recent years have witnessed a marked decline in militant activities, stone-pelting incidents, and separatist mobilization across the region.

The L-G attributed this transformation to the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019 and subsequent administrative reorganization, which he said created conditions for expanded democratic participation and accelerated development initiatives. He contended that improved public engagement in governance structures has complemented infrastructure projects and economic activities across Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh.

Sinha's remarks underscored the administration's position that security improvements and reduced street violence represent fundamental shifts in the region's trajectory rather than temporary lulls. Officials have pointed to increased voter participation in recent electoral cycles and expanded employment schemes as indicators of normalized conditions.

The statement comes amid ongoing security operations against militant networks and continued counter-insurgency efforts by Indian security forces. The administration has maintained that development-focused policies, coupled with security measures, constitute its dual-track approach to establishing stability in the union territory.
