Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday made clear that internal governance issues will not be part of discussions with visiting US Ambassador Sergio Gor, emphasizing that New Delhi remains the appropriate channel for addressing the region's concerns.
"The resolution to our issues will not come from Washington; the resolution to our problems lies with our central government," Abdullah said, underscoring the position that bilateral matters between the Union Territory and the central administration should be resolved through domestic channels rather than international diplomatic engagement.
The Chief Minister's statement reflects the established protocol that internal administrative and governance matters remain within India's purview and are not subject to diplomatic engagement with foreign officials. Abdullah's remarks come as the US Ambassador undertakes engagements across various regions of India.
The clarification signals the state government's approach to maintaining the distinction between India's internal affairs and international relations, while simultaneously reaffirming its commitment to working within the constitutional framework established by the central government for addressing regional grievances and developmental challenges.
