Jackal attack injures over 10 people in Bihar's Rohtas district

Residents of Rohtas district faced a frightening encounter when a jackal suddenly attacked a group of people gathered outside their homes in the Dumraon Road locality. The animal inflicted bite wounds on more than 10 individuals before villagers could intervene. Among those injured were women and children who sustained varying degrees of injuries during the incident. Local authorities reported that the injured were provided initial medical assistance at nearby health facilities. Following the attack, residents managed to encircle the jackal using sticks and other implements in an attempt to contain the animal. The jackal was killed during the confrontation after the villagers' efforts to drive it away proved unsuccessful. Wildlife officials indicated that such incidents remain a concern in rural areas of the state where human settlements increasingly overlap with wildlife habitats. The district administration has launched inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the attack to determine whether the animal showed signs of rabies or other disease.
