Jackal attacks injure over 10 people in Bihar's Rohtas district

A jackal launched a fierce attack on multiple residents in Bikramganj, Rohtas district, leaving over 10 people injured on Friday. The incident sparked panic in the locality as the animal attacked indiscriminately, targeting men, women, and children.

Local residents quickly mobilized to contain the threat, surrounding the jackal with improvised weapons including sticks and batons. The animal was subdued and killed during the confrontation, bringing an end to the violent encounter.

The injured were treated for bite and scratch wounds sustained during the attacks. Wildlife officials have since been notified to investigate the incident and determine what prompted the unusual aggression from the animal, which typically avoids human contact.

Jackal attacks on humans remain relatively rare in Bihar, though such incidents have been reported sporadically in rural areas where human settlements encroach on wildlife habitats. Authorities have urged residents to exercise caution and avoid venturing out alone, particularly during dawn and dusk hours when wild animals are most active.
