Jagan accuses Naidu of deception on backward class reservations

YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy levelled fresh accusations against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday, claiming the TDP leader's pledge to provide reservations to backward classes represents a pattern of broken commitments.

Reddy alleged that the Supreme Court had already exposed what he described as Naidu's "deceptive promise" regarding the reservation issue. He further contended that Naidu's "Super Six" electoral guarantees were similarly misleading to voters, pointing to what he characterised as systematic deception.

The YSRCP chief also criticised the TDP government's decision to cancel welfare schemes that were implemented during the previous YSRCP administration, describing this move as another instance of political dishonesty. Reddy's remarks reflect the intensifying political friction between the two parties as Andhra Pradesh navigates post-election governance.

The backward class reservation issue has remained contentious in Andhra Pradesh politics, with various political parties staking claims on championing the interests of historically marginalised communities. Reddy's accusations suggest the opposition party intends to maintain pressure on the state government over its implementation of campaign promises.
