Jamia Millia Islamia has shuttered the Dr Zakir Husain Library and the Old Library effective October 24, citing security concerns amid escalating unrest on campus. The closure remains in effect until further notice, affecting thousands of students who rely on these facilities for academic work.

The decision comes as the university faces ongoing student demonstrations on its premises. While the administration has not detailed specific security threats, the library closures represent a significant disruption to normal campus operations and student access to research materials.

The Dr Zakir Husain Library, named after the former President of India and a founding figure of the university, is the institution's primary research facility. The Old Library also serves as a critical academic resource for the university community.

Jamia Millia Islamia, located in southeast Delhi, is one of India's premier central universities. The administration has not announced when normal library services are expected to resume, leaving students uncertain about accessing essential academic resources during the closure period.
