Police in Jammu have arrested two men accused of operating as part of a cross-border drug trafficking network connected to handlers based in Pakistan. The suspects, identified as Rahul Kumar and Ajay Kumar, were taken into custody during an operation that yielded one kilogram of narcotics and an illegal pistol.
Investigators said the two men admitted to receiving drug consignments delivered by unmanned aerial vehicles—a method increasingly employed by smuggling networks to evade detection at the heavily fortified international border. The use of drones has emerged as a significant challenge for security agencies monitoring the Jammu and Kashmir border region.
The arrests mark the latest in a series of operations targeting narcotics smuggling through the porous frontier. Authorities indicated that the accused were part of a larger supply chain orchestrated from across the border, with Pakistani-based coordinators directing operations from the other side.
The case has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and the Indian Penal Code. Further investigation is underway to identify additional members of the smuggling network and determine the scale of contraband movement through the region.
