Jamnagar hosts major wildlife conference drawing global conservation experts

Jamnagar emerged as the focal point for international wildlife conservation dialogue as the EARAZA Annual Conference 2026 concluded its four-day session at Vantara, a sprawling wildlife facility in the coastal Gujarat city. The gathering brought together delegates from 98 zoological and aquatic institutions spanning 30 countries, alongside representatives from 29 Indian zoological institutions, underscoring the growing significance of collaborative conservation efforts across the region.

The conference provided a platform for wildlife professionals to exchange insights on contemporary challenges facing zoological parks and aquariums, including habitat preservation, species breeding programmes, and public education initiatives. The diverse representation highlighted India's expanding role in regional wildlife management and conservation networks, with Indian institutions comprising a substantial portion of conference participants.

Vantara's selection as the conference venue reflects the facility's growing prominence in South Asia's wildlife sector. The multi-day forum facilitated discussions on best practices and emerging approaches to animal care, captive breeding of endangered species, and the evolving role of modern zoological institutions in biodiversity conservation.

The EARAZA conference underscores the interconnected nature of wildlife preservation across Asia, where transnational cooperation has become essential for protecting migratory species and maintaining genetic diversity in endangered animal populations. Such gatherings enable institutions to align strategies and share technical expertise in addressing regional conservation priorities.
