Jan Suraj party, backed by political strategist Prashant Kishor, experienced a major jolt ahead of the Bihar Legislative Council elections after Bhushan Kumar Jha withdrew his membership and decided to contest as an independent candidate.
Jha, who had been nominated as the party's candidate for the upcoming polls, announced his exit from the newly-formed political outfit, dealing a blow to Kishor's electoral prospects in the state.
In response to the defection, Jan Suraj promptly announced a replacement candidate to contest from the seat left vacant by Jha's departure. The party did not issue any formal statement regarding the reasons behind the candidate's sudden departure.
The development comes as a setback for Kishor, who has been actively building Jan Suraj as a political alternative in Bihar. The defection underscores the challenges faced by newer political formations in retaining their candidates and maintaining internal party cohesion during election cycles.
