Japanese Ambassador Akio Isomata has emphasized that post-war national reconciliation and economic development are intrinsically linked, positioning both as central to Sri Lanka's long-term stability and prosperity.

Addressing an audience following the signing of a grant agreement with Sivanarul Hope, a Mannar-based development organization, Isomata stressed that Japan accords high priority to development assistance directed toward the Northern and Eastern Provinces in its broader aid programme to Sri Lanka.

The ambassador's remarks underscore Japan's commitment to supporting reconstruction efforts in regions affected by decades of conflict, reflecting Tokyo's strategic focus on post-conflict rehabilitation initiatives across South Asia.

The grant contract signing with Sivanarul Hope represents a concrete step in Japan's assistance framework, channelling resources toward grassroots development initiatives in the Northern and Eastern regions. Japan has maintained an active development partnership with Sri Lanka, particularly in areas requiring post-conflict rehabilitation and economic revitalization.

The timing of the ambassador's statement signals continued Japanese engagement with Sri Lanka's reconciliation agenda, as the island nation works toward comprehensive post-war recovery across all provinces.
