Japanese envoy reviews weather radar project in Puttalam
Japan's Ambassador to Sri Lanka has inspected the construction of a Doppler Weather Radar Network in Puttalam, a significant infrastructure initiative backed by Japanese funding. The project is expected to enhance weather monitoring and disaster preparedness across the island.

Ambassador ISOMATA visited the Puttalam construction site to assess progress on the weather radar network, which represents a key component of Japan's development assistance to Sri Lanka. The facility, once operational, will significantly strengthen the country's meteorological capabilities and early warning systems for severe weather events.
The Doppler Weather Radar Network is designed to provide real-time atmospheric data across a wider geographical area, improving forecasting accuracy and enabling faster response to cyclones, monsoons, and other weather-related hazards. Such infrastructure is critical for a nation vulnerable to seasonal storms and unpredictable climatic patterns.
