Jindal Stainless to boost coin blank output amid rising global demand

India's largest stainless steel manufacturer is set to enhance its coin blank manufacturing capabilities to meet surging international demand for non-paper currency solutions. Jindal Stainless plans to increase annual production capacity from its current levels to 12,000 tonnes, marking a significant 20 per cent expansion of the division.
The Special Products Division at Jindal Stainless's Hisar facility, which operates under stringent security protocols, manufactures coin blanks alongside other precision-engineered products including razor blades and specialized metal strips. The facility supplies unstamped coins to a diverse customer base spanning multiple continents.
According to unit leadership, Jindal Stainless serves as a critical supplier to the Indian Mint and numerous international minting facilities, including those in France, Finland, Poland, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Malaysia and Slovakia. Each order is manufactured to exacting specifications determined by individual mints, encompassing precise requirements for diameter, thickness and other dimensional parameters.
The capacity enhancement comes as global mints increasingly seek reliable suppliers for metallic coin production, with Jindal Stainless positioned as a preferred partner due to its manufacturing expertise and quality standards. The expansion underscores the company's confidence in sustained demand for physical currency across key markets.
