Jio, T-Mobile enable world's first 5G standalone roaming pact

Reliance Jio and T-Mobile have established a landmark roaming agreement, becoming the first operators globally to enable 5G standalone connectivity across international borders. The arrangement permits Jio subscribers to access T-Mobile's 5G SA network while travelling in the United States, while T-Mobile customers gain access to Jio's 5G SA infrastructure during visits to India.

The partnership represents a significant advancement in international mobile connectivity, moving beyond traditional roaming standards to harness the capabilities of 5G standalone technology. Unlike earlier 5G implementations that relied on legacy 4G infrastructure, 5G SA networks offer independent operation with enhanced speed, lower latency, and improved reliability.
