JioStar profit declines 13.2% despite revenue growth in Q2

JioStar Limited reported a consolidated PAT of ₹1,147 crore for the quarter ended September 2026, compared with ₹1,322 crore in the corresponding year-ago period. The profit decline came amid operational challenges that offset gains from higher subscription fees and digital advertising revenues.

The company's total revenue grew 9.8 percent year-on-year during the quarter, driven by increased contributions from both its streaming and traditional media businesses. Subscription revenue and digital advertising segments performed positively, reflecting the company's ability to monetize its content platforms.

JioHotstar, the company's streaming platform, demonstrated user growth momentum with monthly active users expanding 10 percent to 440 million during the period. The increase underscores the platform's expanding reach across India's digital entertainment market, though the growth in subscribers has not yet translated into proportional profit gains.

The earnings performance suggests JioStar is navigating a period of subscriber expansion while managing cost pressures. The company continues to invest in content and technology infrastructure to maintain competitive positioning in India's increasingly crowded streaming landscape.
