JOHOR BAHRU — Authorities in Johor have intensified efforts to combat price control violations, logging 2,373 offences and confiscating goods valued at RM11.6 million in recent enforcement operations. The Johor Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) conducted the crackdown as part of measures to protect consumers and ensure fair pricing across essential goods and services.
The enforcement drive targeted businesses and traders suspected of contravening price control regulations. Officials conducted raids and inspections at retail outlets, markets, and wholesale premises throughout the state to identify non-compliance with government pricing directives.
The high number of violations and significant seizures underscore ongoing challenges in maintaining price discipline among traders. Authorities have indicated that the ministry remains committed to regular monitoring and enforcement to safeguard consumer interests and maintain market stability.
The Johor KPDN urged businesses to adhere strictly to regulated pricing guidelines to avoid penalties. Officials warned that repeat offenders and those engaged in deliberate price manipulation face prosecution and substantial fines under relevant legislation.
