Johor Bahru-Singapore transit link pushed back to mid-February launch

The anticipated rapid transit link between Johor Bahru and Singapore will not commence passenger services until mid-February, marking a delay from earlier timelines for the major infrastructure project.

Official testing and trial operations are scheduled to conclude by December 31, paving the way for the transition to full commercial service in the new year. The phased approach allows authorities to validate system performance and safety protocols ahead of opening to the travelling public.

The transit connection represents a significant development for cross-border mobility in the region, facilitating smoother travel between the two jurisdictions. Once operational, the link is expected to reduce journey times and enhance connectivity for thousands of daily commuters and travellers.

The project reflects collaborative efforts between Malaysian and Singaporean authorities to improve regional transport infrastructure. The delayed timeline accommodates comprehensive validation procedures necessary before introducing the system to regular passenger traffic.
