State officials in Johor have taken proactive steps to mitigate haze-related disruptions to the education sector, establishing a special task force dedicated to managing air quality challenges. An executive council member confirmed that the coordination meeting endorsed the formation of this dedicated team, which will implement measures to protect students and staff from air pollution risks.
As part of the preparatory measures, state authorities have developed comprehensive standard operating procedures to be activated before schools reopen. These protocols are designed to provide clear guidance to educational institutions on monitoring air quality, implementing indoor activities when necessary, and ensuring student safety during periods of poor air quality.
The state government also moved to strengthen inter-agency coordination on haze management by activating the Johor State Disaster Management Committee, known locally as JPBN. This activation is intended to enhance communication and resource-sharing among relevant agencies involved in air quality monitoring, environmental response, and public health protection.
The coordinated approach reflects Johor's commitment to maintaining educational continuity while prioritising the wellbeing of students during the seasonal haze period. Officials are working to ensure that all stakeholders, including schools, parents, and health authorities, are aligned in their response to air quality emergencies.
